What Can Make The Lowest Auto Insurance Quote A Bad Deal?

By Chimpuriche Chihunrumnanya

It's a great thing to find an auto insurance quote that is several hundreds of dollars lower than industry standards for your profile. However, like everything out there, you need to make sure of a few things before you buy such an affordable policy. Indeed, you need to make sure of a lot of things even if the quote is expensive...

1. You must make sure you're dealing with an insurer that has an excellent rating. That is unless you never intend to make a claim even when you need to. Some companies are notorious for how difficult they make it for policyholders who file even very legitimate claims.

Too many complaints against an insurer is a bad sign. Although all insurers have some complaints against them; run, if the ratio of complaints is too high -- Moreso if many of them are unresolved. Also check at how quickly each case was resolved.

Furthermore, make sure the insurer in question is licensed to sell auto insurance in your state. Check with your state's department of insurance to verify this.

2. Does your super-low quote come with super-high deductibles? An insurer could give very low quotes and then place very high deductibles on the policy. This is neither good nor bad. It all depends on what your auto insurance needs are. Just make sure you get what serves your best interest.

3. There is a given number of years after which an insurer clears your record of traffic violations or accidents. If you're NOT the "greatest" of drivers, you may want to ensure your insurer does this after fewer years.

How does this policy check against the things we've listed above? If the policy does fine against all these then you have a great quote.

Also, do your best to read through your policy details and have all your questions answered before you buy.
